After the devastating loss of our circa 1930 old Florida cottage due to Hurricane Michael, we were not sure where to begin with the rebuild. We knew we wanted to pay homage to the former house, but after that we were all over the place! We liked Florida cracker style architecture, but we were also fans of coastal traditional, Hampton style, Cape Cod....like I said we were all over the place.
Micah Dodson stepped in and became a mind reader. Things that we didn’t know how to adequately describe Micah somehow interpreted perfectly. Like a magician he put everything onto paper in the form of our consummate beach home. The true artisan that he is showed up as he incorporated special details from our previous cottage into a mesh of everything else we loved and gave us the perfect plan. Now we hardly ever visit our new home without someone stopping and telling us it’s their favorite house at the beach!

Micah helped us design our modern dream beach house. We were referred to Micah through our builder. Our first meeting with Micah we discussed our vision of what we wanted and the next meeting he pretty much nailed it, with only a few small changes needed. Micah continued to work through the building process with structural engineering, soil sampling and whatever else was needed while keeping us informed along the way. He continued to work with our builder until our home was completed.
We couldn’t be happier with the way the house turned out and the feel of the space that was created with the limited footprint our lot allowed. We have had so many complements on how big the space feels because of the windows and natural light we were able to capture. If you need an architect with a vision, who communicates with you and follows through, we would highly recommend Micah!
