This elevated two-story home reclaims a storm-damaged lot along the waterfront in Mexico Beach, where a stacked townhome structure once stood prior to Hurricane Michael. The upper unit had been purchased only months before the storm, and the lower unit was acquired afterward to simplify the rebuilding process and consolidate ownership.

The new design navigates a series of complex challenges, including fire separation requirements, nonconforming setbacks, updated floodplain standards, and density limits, while fitting seamlessly within the existing neighborhood fabric. A compact footprint, elevated porches, and durable coastal materials support a resilient, view-focused design that reinterprets traditional beachfront forms for a new era of rebuilding.
