Tucked into an interior lot on the first block off the beach, this modern coastal home was conceived to celebrate natural light, layered outdoor living, and strategic water views. The owner’s request for a contemporary aesthetic with a monoslope roof became the driving force behind the architecture, resulting in a bold form that floats above the shaded lower level.
While not situated on a corner, the design incorporates a carefully placed glass angled toward the street, allowing views to slip past adjacent homes and reach the water. Deep roof overhangs and extensive porches provide protection from the Florida sun, with solar studies guiding the placement of shade structures for comfort during the hottest parts of the day. The ground level opens to a private backyard retreat featuring a linear pool, fire pit lounge, and outdoor kitchen crafted for gathering. Every element of the design aims to blur the boundaries between inside and out while maintaining privacy and harnessing the site’s coastal energy.
